Lloyds Banking Group is offering a 5-year apprenticeship in Internal Audit, based in Bristol or Edinburgh. You’ll begin with the Level 4 Internal Audit Practitioner qualification and, upon completion, progress toward higher professional studies.

The programme includes structured learning, live audits, and cross-team exposure. Starting salary is £27,400 with a comprehensive benefits package and a clear path to a fully qualified Chartered Auditor.

Qualifications

• GCSEs in Maths and English (grades 4–9) required.
• Three A levels at grade BCC or higher requested.
• Nat 5 Maths and English with grades A–C; four Highers (BBCC) typical entry criteria.

• Audit isn’t about sitting on the sidelines. We don’t give you a clipboard.
• Within three months you’ll be working on live audits - observing, contributing, and taking on cases of your own.
• As you progress, you’ll spend time in areas like Business Banking, Insurance and Technology.
• Plus, a 6‑month placement outside Audit, an opportunity to work alongside teams like Finance, Tech, Risk, and Customer Services - giving you a 360° view of how we get things done. These will be defined during your programme.

Your licence to ask “Why?”

This is a 5-year apprenticeship programme based in Bristol or Edinburgh. You’ll start by working towards the Level 4 Internal Audit Practitioner qualification. Once completed, you’ll have the opportunity to progress to higher-level professional study, building your expertise and working towards becoming a Chartered Auditor.

In your first 18–24 months, you’ll work towards your Level 4 Internal Audit Practitioner qualification, supported through a mix of structured learning and workshops covering areas such as:

• Corporate Governance and Risk Management
• Internal Audit Planning
• Interpersonal Skills

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bristol

• You’ll need to be at least 18 years old on 1st September 2027
• GCSEs at grade 4 – 9 in both Maths and English
• 3 A levels at grade BCC

Edinburgh

• You’ll need to be at least 18 years old at the end of February 2028
• Nat 5 Maths & English at grades A-C
• 4 Highers BBCC

These grades can be predicted, but any offer made to you will be conditional upon successful achievement of these qualifications.

Important information

An additional requirement for the apprenticeship position is that you must currently possess a valid Right to Work in the UK. Your visa end date must extend beyond the duration of the apprenticeship programme, which will last up to five years.

Location

This apprenticeship is based in Bristol or Edinburgh, and you will be expected to work from your main office location throughout the programme. While our hybrid working policy requires office attendance at least two days per week (40% for full-time colleagues), apprentices are expected to be in the office most days during the initial settling‑in period.

If your commute exceeds 1.5 hours, we strongly recommend relocating closer to the office to ensure consistent attendance in line with contractual and hybrid working expectations.

You will join us on a fixed apprenticeship salary. Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will be re-graded, with your pay range consistent with the job family for your business area.
