Job summary

RSM UK is offering a 12-month paid placement in External Audit as part of a sandwich degree. You’ll work alongside current trainees and experienced professionals, gaining practical experience with real client work and on-the-job training. There may be a place on graduate training programmes after graduation.

You will conduct risk-focused reviews of clients’ financial records and controls, helping ensure accurate statements and building stakeholder trust. Start date is 14 September 2027.

You’ll get stuck into real client work, benefit from on-the-job training and access our internal training courses to help you develop throughout the year. Perform well, and there could be a place for you on one of our graduate training programmes when you finish your degree.

As a member of our audit team, you’ll conduct thorough, risk-focused reviews of clients’ financial records, processes, and controls, playing an important role in ensuring the accuracy of financial statements, and building trust and confidence among stakeholders.

You’ll make an impact by:

• Becoming a key member of our team from day one, getting involved in client work quickly, initially as part of a larger team before taking on individual responsibility for projects.
• Working with a wide variety of clients, ranging from owner managed businesses, through to large listed groups as well as charities, pension schemes and other not-for-profit organisations.

What we’re looking for

• A minimum of 112 UCAS points across three A levels (or equivalent level 3 qualification), 104 UCAS points across four Scottish Highers/Advanced Highers or an Irish Leaving Certificate (higher level).
• Be enrolled on a placement degree.
• An existing, permanent, right to live and work in the UK for this role.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills to convey complex information clearly and concisely with team members and clients.
• The ability to analyse and interpret data to solve problems.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, which enable you to build relationships and stay calm under pressure.
• A genuine interest in business and commerce together with strong organisational and time management skills.
• A willingness to travel to client sites and other offices as required.

Please note, RSM doesn’t accept General Studies, AS levels or the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).
