Job summary

Clark Wood Limited in Plymouth leads a highly regarded accountancy firm, seeking an Audit Director / Head of Audit to own and shape the audit function with backing from the Group Audit Director and Local MD.

You will take overall responsibility for leading the audit team, managing a substantial client portfolio, winning new work and driving value across the department.

Qualifications

• ACA/ACCA/CA qualified with senior practice experience.
• Proven leadership of audit teams and RI experience.
• Strong portfolio of audit clients and relationship-building.

Clark Wood is working with a highly regarded accountancy firm in Plymouth who are seeking an experienced Audit Director / Head of Audit to take ownership of its audit function and play a key role in the continued growth of the office.

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior audit professional who wants genuine autonomy with a leading Plymouth and Devon accountancy practice. You’ll have the freedom to lead and shape the audit department as you see fit, with the backing of the wider firm and direct access to the Group Audit Director and Local MD.

You’ll take overall responsibility for:

• Leading, developing and growing the audit team.
• Managing a substantial portfolio of audit clients.
• Winning new audit work and developing new client relationships.
• Driving the growth, profitability and performance of the department.
• Identifying opportunities to grow existing client relationships across the wider firm.
• Maintaining the highest standards of audit quality, technical compliance and risk management.
• Embracing technology and AI to improve efficiency and client service.

What we're looking for

• We’re keen to speak with ACA/ACCA/CA qualified audit professionals operating at Senior Manager, Director or equivalent level within practice.
• Strong audit portfolio and RI experience.
• Proven experience leading and developing teams.
