Job summary

Saffery LLP in Peterborough seeks an experienced Audit Associate in our Audit Team. The successful candidate will be in the 2nd or 3rd year of ACA/ACCA with solid technical skills and prior audit experience.

You will work on statutory audits for a diverse client base, develop trainees, and benefit from strong coaching, with a clear path to progression in a supportive, flexible environment. You will join a team reporting to partners, with a 35-hour week and hybrid policy.

Qualifications

  • The successful candidate is in 2nd or 3rd year of ACA/ACCA with solid technical skills.
  • Prior experience in audit and accounts is preferred.
  • Experience in CCH AP and AA and Inflo is advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach are essential.
  • Driving licence and ability to travel to client premises are beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver statutory audit and other assurance engagements as part of the team.
  • Work with a varied client base including large corporate clients up to £500m turnover.
  • Engage in planning through to completion of audits and review of group/standalone FS.
  • Build relationships with clients and assist in supervising, coaching and developing trainees.
  • Participate in coaching, with support from managers and qualified staff, enabling career progression.

The role

The Peterborough office are looking for an experienced, professional and enthusiastic Audit Associate within our Audit Team, the successful candidate is expected to be in their 2nd or 3rd year of ACA/ACCA study with solid technical skills.

The responsibilities

As an Associate, you will be responsible for working as part of a team to deliver statutory audit and other assurance engagements to our clients. You will work as part of a team to deliver our uniquely personal and proactive service, upholding the highest standards in client service.

  • Work with our expansive and varied client base, including a number of large corporate clients and groups with turnover up to £500m
  • Work on all aspects of statutory audit engagements, from planning through to completion and will also be involved in the preparation and review of group and single entity financial statements
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with our clients
  • Supervise, coach and develop new trainees
  • Benefit from investment in coaching and developing you, with direct support from Qualified staff and one-to-one support from the Manager team

The team

The Audit team within the Peterborough office comprises staff ranging from Directors to audit assistants and audit juniors. The team reports to all of the partners within the office on a variety of tasks ranging from audit and accounts preparation and ad-hoc client queries.

You

  • The successful candidate will be studying ACA/ACCA
  • You should have prior experience in an audit and accounts role, with emphasis on audit experience given this area of growth.
  • It is preferable to have experience in CCH AP and AA as well as Inflo
  • You should be motivated, organised, commercially minded and have a clear perception of good client service. In addition, you should possess good interpersonal skills, demonstrate initiative and be able to provide accurate work in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • You should display a flexible, professional approach, and have the confidence and ability to establish credibility with Partners and clients.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Natural team player is essential, with a positive and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Although not a pre-requisite, it would be beneficial if you had:
  • Driving licence and ability to travel to client premises
