Audit Assistant Manager

An established accountancy practice is looking for a motivated and qualified Assistant Manager to join its Corporate Services team. This position is suited for an ACCA/ACA qualified professional with post‑qualification experience or a newly qualified individual with relevant expertise.

The role is ideal for someone who thrives in both collaborative and independent environments, with strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines under pressure. You will primarily manage audits, prepare accounts, and ensure tax compliance across a portfolio of corporate clients, while also supporting the development of junior staff.

Role Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of corporate clients, providing audit, accounting, and tax compliance services.
  • Lead and supervise audit assignments, including planning, execution, and review of work.
  • Ensure the timely completion of accounts, tax returns, and other compliance obligations.
  • Review and finalise work prepared by team members, maintaining professional standards.
  • Provide guidance, mentoring, and coaching to junior staff.
  • Participate in special projects, including consolidations, reorganisations, and system/process improvements.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, identifying opportunities for additional services.
  • Support business development activities, representing the team externally as required.
  • Oversee client budgets, billing, and overall financial management of assignments.
  • Contribute to team meetings and collaborate with colleagues to promote effective communication and knowledge sharing.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, audit standards, and relevant regulatory requirements.
Personal Requirements
  • ACCA or ACA qualified, with relevant post‑qualification experience (or newly qualified with experience).
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent organisational and time‑management abilities.
  • Confident in managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience in auditing corporate clients with turnovers of £5-20 million+.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop junior staff.
  • Self‑motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
