CLOSING SOON

As one of the world's largest networks of audit, tax and consulting firms, RSM delivers big ideas and premium service to help middle‑market businesses thrive. We are a fast‑growing firm with a clear goal to become the premium adviser to the middle market, globally. This vision touches everything we do and motivates us to become better every day. If you are looking for a firm where you can build a future and make an impact, then RSM is the place for you.

External audit – Your career path at RSM

Our external audit graduate apprenticeship programme gives you all the skills and support you need to unlock a future packed with opportunities and new experiences. You’ll enjoy a fast‑tracked business career that recognises your potential and rewards your ambition.

When you join our team, you’ll benefit from on‑the‑job learning and structured training, an impressive client list, and a culture that nurtures individuality and supports everyone to reach their potential. With us, you’ll always be moving forward.

What our external audit team does

Our team conducts a detailed, risk‑based review of a company’s financial records and control environment to form an opinion on whether the financial statements prepared by the directors are true and fair. A robust audit challenges the financial operations of a company and improves its internal workings, giving stakeholders confidence in the public domain.

What you can expect

You will be a key member of our team from day one, working on client assignments and gradually taking on individual responsibility for projects. You could work with a wide variety of organisations – from large listed financial institutions to national retail chains, high‑profile charities, and international clients across the UK and beyond.

Our graduate apprenticeship will give you access to top‑quality career development, on‑the‑job training from senior members, and internal training courses that help you grow into a trusted adviser.

When you join, you will work towards the ACA qualification with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW), or your CA qualification with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS) or Chartered Accountants Ireland (CAI).

What we look for
  • Enthusiastic self‑starters who are quick to grasp new subjects and comfortable with numbers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to explain complex financial information.
  • Strong attention to detail and the financial acumen required for audit work.
Flexible working

We support all our people to work flexibly, managing family and personal responsibilities alongside their work commitments. This flexibility is key to achieving an inspiring and fulfilling working environment.

Our recruitment process

Applicants who perform well throughout our assessment process may be offered a role in another location or department if their first preference is unavailable. RSM accepts only one application per recruitment cycle and does not accept multiple applications to different vacancies.

Entry requirements
  • 112 UCAS (new tariff) across 3 A Levels or an equivalent level 3 qualification; or 104 UCAS (new tariff) across 4 Scottish Highers/Advanced Highers. RSM does not accept General Studies, AS Levels, or the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).
  • A predicted or obtained honours degree.

UCAS has changed its points system. Under the old tariff, the above would be 280 or 260 points respectively.

Diversity and Inclusion at RSM

We aim to create a strong sense of belonging for people of all identities, backgrounds, and cultures, allowing them to bring their true selves to work. Our clients and teams reflect a broad range of experiences and perspectives, fostering an inclusive environment that enhances the quality of our service.
