Job description
Summary

This position will enable you to develop valuable skills, gain hands‑on experience and learn from exceptional people, all while you work towards gaining the AAT qualification and achieving your career goals. The role is full‑time with full study support, a competitive salary and you will be working in a friendly and progressive environment.

Wage: £18,000 a year. Annual salary reviews take place in March.

Training course: Professional accounting technician (level 4).

Hours: Monday to Friday, 7.5 hours per day with flexible start and end times. A standard working week is 37.5 hours with no requirement to work on weekends or evenings.

Start date: Tuesday 1 September 2026. Duration: 3 years.

What You'll Do at Work
  • Support the delivery of assignments through undertaking audit fieldwork both at client premises and in the office.
  • Successfully communicate with the client throughout the audit, including systems understanding and for general queries relating to the testing being undertaken.
  • Attend stock takes.
  • Highlight areas of risk or significance for the Senior or Executive to review.
  • Respond to review points and clear them as and when required.
  • Collaborate with all team members and those within the wider business.
  • Extract information from the client’s accounting system and obtain supporting documents as required.
  • Prepare accounts on Iris (including those under FRS102 and 1A).
  • Complete audit programmes.
  • Build relationships with the client (and their team) and act as an ambassador for the business, professionally representing the firm in dealings with clients and other professionals.

  • Build and maintain collaborative, professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Training Schedule
  • Completion of the AAT qualification, starting with level 3 before moving on to level 4.
  • Studies will be completed via live online sessions.
  • Course attendance is typically one day a week.

After this Apprenticeship

It is expected that upon full completion of the AAT qualification (levels 3 and 4) apprentices will move on to study the ACA qualification. Promotions and salary increases will be made during the course of completing the full AAT qualification, in line with the individual displaying the appropriate level of knowledge, skills and behaviours relevant to the role.
