Job summary

KCR Solutions are assisting a Middlesbrough based firm of Accountants in their search for a Qualified AAT Accounts/Audit Assistant. You will handle audit assignments across education, retail, manufacturing, and charities, visiting client sites across the region and building strong client relationships.

The ideal candidate will be AAT L4 qualified or working towards it, with experience in owner-managed accounts, an understanding of audit, accounts, and tax, and familiarity with Sage, QuickBooks

Qualifications

• AAT Level 4 qualification or current study toward it.
• Experience preparing accounts for owner‑managed small/medium businesses (SMBs).
• General practice background with exposure to audit, accounts and tax.

Responsibilities

• Assist with audit assignments from planning to final completion.

KCR Solutions are delighted to be assisting a firm of Accountants based in Middlesbrough in their search for a Qualified AAT Accounts/Audit Assistant. The successful candidate will work with clients from a variety of sectors including education, retail, manufacturing, and charities. The role requires attendance at clients' sites across the region.

The key duties of the role are:

• Assist with audit assignments from initial planning through to final completion.
• Work with a broad portfolio of businesses across a range of sectors.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as a trusted point of contact throughout the audit process.
• Assist in the preparation of management accounts and VAT returns
• Assist in the preparation of corporation tax computations
• Attend client meetings to help finalise accounts and corporation tax computations
• Act as a point of contact for clients for ad hoc queries
• Coach more junior members of the team

The ideal candidate will:

• Be AAT L4 qualified or working towards it
• Have recent relevant experience of owner-managed small to medium business accounts preparation including statutory financial statements
• Be able to demonstrate a general practice background, with exposure to audit, accounts and tax
• Be driven to deliver excellent client service
• Have a track record in delivering to tight client deadlines
• Knowledge of accounting software packages such as Sage, QuickBooks, Xero, etc. would be advantageous
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Good organisational and administrative skills with attention to detail
