About us

About us
St James's Auctions was established in 2004 as the auction division of Knightsbridge Coins, a thriving business founded in the mid-1970s. Based in the prestigious quarter of St James's in the heart of London, we are one of the UK's most reputable auction houses for coins, medallions, tokens, and paper money.

About you

About you
You should have a genuine interest in the auction trade and be keen to develop your knowledge and experience within a specialist auction house. You will be a quick learner who is comfortable working in a busy environment and able to manage a varied workload.

You will be highly organised, articulate and confident communicating with colleagues and customers. Good administrative skills and strong attention to detail are essential, as is the ability to work accurately to deadlines.

Previous experience in an auction house or a related environment is essential. Most importantly, we are looking for someone enthusiastic, dependable and willing to learn who will become a valued member of our team.

About the role

About the role
Working closely with the Head of Auctions, you will play an important role in the smooth running of our auctions from start to finish. This is a varied, hands-on position within a small team, offering the successful candidate the opportunity to gain experience across all aspects of the auction process.

Your responsibilities will include photography and image editing, catalogue production, proofing and ensuring auction information is accurate and presented to a high standard. You will also assist with the administration surrounding auctions, including invoicing, processing results and dealing with customer enquiries by email, telephone and in person.

The role will involve working across multiple auctions and deadlines, so excellent organisation and attention to detail are essential. You will need to be able to manage a variety of tasks, prioritise your workload and work efficiently while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

As you become familiar with our systems and processes, you will be expected to take increasing responsibility for aspects of the auction cycle and to contribute to the efficient running of the department. You will work closely with colleagues across the business and have regular contact with clients, bidders and consignors, making good communication and a professional, approachable manner important to the role.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is keen to develop a career in the auction industry and wants to become involved in the practical and administrative side of running a specialist London auction house.
