Job summary

Create Education is recruiting an Attendance Officer for a specialist SEN school in Barking, East London. The role focuses on monitoring daily pupil attendance, following up unexplained absences and generating accurate records using the school MIS.

You will work with families, staff and safeguarding teams to improve attendance and support pupils with complex needs. The position is full-time, Monday to Friday, paying £120–£130 per day umbrella, with ASAP start.

Qualifications

• Experience in a school attendance or administrative role preferred.
• Good understanding of school attendance procedures and safeguarding responsibilities.
• Experience with SIMS/Arbor/Bromcom is advantageous.
• Ability to handle sensitive information professionally and confidentially.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, record and maintain accurate daily pupil attendance and absence records.
• Follow up on unexplained absences, contacting parents and carers promptly.
• Identify patterns of persistent absence and support strategies to improve attendance.
• Work with school leadership, safeguarding teams and pastoral staff to address attendance concerns.
• Build positive relationships with parents, carers and external professionals.
• Produce attendance reports and maintain accurate records using school MIS.
• Support attendance meetings and ensure attendance procedures are followed.
• Recognise and report safeguarding concerns in line with school policies.
