Attendance Officer
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear
Salary: £85 - £110 per day
Contract: Full Time, Temporary

GSL Education are currently recruiting an Attendance Officer to join a secondary school in Newcastle upon Tyne. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised, proactive, and empathetic individual to support pupils’ engagement by improving attendance and punctuality across the school.

Job Summary
  • Promote and apply intervention strategies to ensure high levels of pupil attendance and punctuality.
  • Monitor and maintain accurate attendance records using both manual and electronic systems.
  • Work collaboratively with staff, pupils, and parents to address absence issues and promote consistent attendance.
Responsibilities
  • Track and follow up pupil absences and lateness daily through phone calls, letters, or home visits.
  • Identify pupils requiring additional support and implement targeted interventions.
  • Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies to encourage regular attendance.
  • Prepare attendance reports for school leadership and local authorities.
    Requirements
    • Previous experience in a school or administrative environment preferred.
    • Strong communication and record-keeping skills.
    • Ability to work independently and manage sensitive information confidentially.
    • A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.

    Please note: This role requires an enhanced DBS registered on the update service and strong knowledge of safeguarding procedures.
