GSL Education London Branch is excited to be recruiting an Attendance Officer to join a vibrant and welcoming girls’ secondary school in Tower Hamlets. This is a fantastic opportunity for an organised, confident, and proactive Attendance Officer who is passionate about supporting young people and ensuring every pupil reaches their full potential.

As an Attendance Officer, you will play a key part in improving whole-school attendance, working closely with staff, parents, and students. The successful Attendance Officer will be committed, reliable, and able to build strong relationships within the school community. Responsibilities of the Attendance Officer

• Monitor daily student attendance and follow up on any absences
• Make phone calls to parents and carers regarding student attendance
• Update and maintain attendance records using the school’s management system
• Work with pastoral staff and senior leaders to improve attendance
• Meet with students to discuss attendance concerns and set targets
• Produce attendance reports for school leaders
• Carry out home visits where required (alongside authorised staff)

Requirements for the Attendance Officer

• Previous experience as an Attendance Officer or similar administrative role in a school
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Confidence using school systems and Microsoft Office
• Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality
• A calm, professional, and approachable manner
• Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
• Good understanding of working within a school environment
