Job summary

Hamstead Hall Academy is seeking a dedicated Attendance Officer to join our pastoral team on a one-year maternity cover contract. Reporting to the Assistant Headteacher (Pastoral), you will promote attendance, work with pupils and families, and use data to drive improvements.

You will lead daily attendance management, follow up unexplained absences, develop attendance improvement plans, and coordinate meetings with families and external agencies to secure positive outcomes for pupils.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a school or educational setting.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to analyse data confidently and identify trends for action.
• Strong administrative and organisational skills with attention to detail.
• Comfort with IT systems and Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Monitoring and reporting on whole-school attendance data and trends.
• Following up unexplained absences and managing attendance procedures.
• Developing personalised attendance improvement plans with pupils and families.
• Coordinating attendance meetings, interventions and home visits as needed.
• Producing attendance reports for school leaders and tracking vulnerable groups.
• Supporting safeguarding processes and coordinating with external agencies.
