Waythrough was formed in 2024 following the merger of Humankind and Richmond Fellowship. Together, we’ve created one of the largest mental health and social support charities in England.

Every year, we support around 125,000 people through nearly 200 services – and it’s all made possible by our 3,500 brilliant staff and volunteers.

Make a real difference in your community

Are you passionate about helping others live safer, healthier, more independent lives? Join our team at Waythrough and support people facing challenges around mental health, substance use, housing or domestic abuse. This is more than just a job – it’s a chance to build meaningful relationships and create lasting change.

About the Role

As an Assurance Specialist at Waythrough, you will play a key role in supporting operational assurance and driving continuous improvement across our services. Working closely with the Assurance Lead and the wider Performance and Data team, you will help embed our assurance framework, ensuring services have the right measures, processes and oversight in place to deliver high-quality, safe and effective support.

You will provide expert guidance on assurance metrics, incident management and regulatory expectations, helping operational colleagues understand performance information and translate insights into meaningful actions. You will also support learning from incidents and complaints, identify opportunities to share best practice, and contribute to a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.

Working across different services in response to assurance needs, you will build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels, supporting the implementation of assurance measures for new services and contracts. This is an opportunity to make a real difference by strengthening governance, improving service delivery and ensuring our assurance processes support positive outcomes for the people we work wit

Key Duties
  • Support operational assurance across Waythrough services, providing oversight of assurance metrics, particularly statistical information relating to events and incidents recorded in theHub.
  • Work closely with the Assurance Lead to embed and maintain the organisational assurance framework, supporting the development and delivery of the business assurance action plan.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to operational colleagues on assurance standards, best practice and regulatory requirements, including CQC and Ofsted expectations.
  • Build effective relationships with stakeholders, supporting regular meetings to review assurance metrics, discuss outcomes and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Analyse and interpret assurance reports and performance data, working with the Performance and Data team to translate findings into actionable insights.
  • Support colleagues with incident management processes through theHub, promoting a collaborative approach and ensuring learning from incidents and complaints is captured and shared.
  • Prepare and present assurance reports through the appropriate governance structures, providing clear oversight of assurance outcomes and progress.
  • Support the introduction and implementation of assurance measures for new services and contract mobilisations, ensuring appropriate methodologies are in place to meet contractual requirements.
  • Work flexibly across services, focusing support where assurance needs are greatest and identifying opportunities to share effective practice across the organisation.
  • Act as a key point of contact for assurance-related queries, supporting colleagues to understand expectations, develop their knowledge and apply the assurance framework consistently.
  • Contribute to a data-driven culture that promotes accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement across operational delivery.
About You

You will be an analytical, organised and solution-focused professional with experience of monitoring assurance measures and supporting quality and performance improvement within a large charity or similar organisation. You will have a good understanding of assurance best practice and the ability to interpret complex information, turning it into clear, practical recommendations that support effective decision-making.

You will be confident communicating with a wide range of stakeholders, presenting information effectively and building relationships that encourage collaboration and accountability. With strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities, you will be comfortable working flexibly across different teams and adapting to changing operational needs.

You will also bring:

  • A relevant qualification, such as a degree, or equivalent experience.
  • Relevant professional certifications in technologies or methodologies, such as Microsoft Power BI or Excel.
  • Knowledge of assurance best practice, including monitoring and evaluating assurance measures.
  • Experience delivering assurance changes, alongside providing training and support to colleagues across diverse teams.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex information to different audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on identifying solutions and improving processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programmes and confidence working with reporting tools and performance information.
  • Highly developed organisational and prioritisation skills, with the resilience and adaptability to thrive in an evolving environment.
  • The ability to influence discussions, engage stakeholders and support the implementation of effective assurance processes.

Experience of developing and embedding assurance frameworks, introducing supporting meeting structures, working with stakeholders to establish requirements, or working within the sectors in which Waythrough operates would also be advantageous.

Above all, you will share Waythrough's values of Kindness, Courage and Respect, demonstrating a commitment to continuous learning, high-quality services and positive outcomes for the people we support.
