What Is the Opportunity?

We are looking for an Associate Underwriter to join our Small Business team based in Redhill.

As part of our Small Business Broker team, you’ll play a key role in supporting small businesses by managing renewals and Mid-Term Adjustments (MTAs) through the Acturis eTrade platform. This is a high-volume, fast-paced environment where you’ll focus exclusively on renewals, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and excellent broker service.

You’ll take ownership of your renewal portfolio — proactively driving retention and performance, and building strong, lasting relationships with brokers to deliver the right solutions for customers. Every day will bring a mix of analytical thinking and relationship-building, as you evaluate risk, make decisions, and help achieve key business goals.

Travelers Europe currently offers flexibility to employees who wish to work on a hybrid basis in accordance with our Hybrid Work Arrangements Policy. This entails full time employees working three days a week in the office and two days at home (or pro rata for part-time employees). This policy may be changed at the Company’s discretion.

What Will You Do?
  • Manage the profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned renewal portfolio.

  • Underwrite and negotiate routine renewal risks and MTAs to minimise risk and maximise profitability.

  • Proactively manage your portfolio, ensuring key performance indicators are consistently achieved.

  • Take corrective action in collaboration with your Manager / Team based on identified risk characteristics.

  • Utilise Acturis to quote, adjust, and bind eTrade renewals efficiently.

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with internal partners within the business unit and across the enterprise.

  • Foster and maintain relationships with brokers by phone, email or other communication channels to deliver a smooth renewal experience.

  • Execute submissions, quotes and renewals with guidance from your manager and working in partnership with the sales team.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

  • A-Levels or similar qualification
  • Some prior related Insurance experience.
What Is in It for You?
  • Private Medical Insurance: On commencement of employment, you are eligible for single cover provided by Travelers, with the option to add cover for your dependents, at your expense through payroll deduction.
  • Retirement: Travelers will make a basic contribution of 9% of pensionable salary to your Group Personal Pension Plan (“GPPP”). If you decide to contribute an additional amount from your salary, you will receive an increased company contribution up to a maximum of 3%. This would bring the total company contribution to 12%.
  • Holiday Entitlement: Start your career at Travelers with a minimum of 25 days holiday entitlement annually, plus the opportunity to purchase additional days to allow for up to a total of 35 holidays per year.
