The Opportunity

Our client a well-established commercial law firm in Harrow is looking to appoint an Associate Solicitor Commercial Litigation to join their growing disputes team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded litigator who wants genuine responsibility direct client contact and a clear route to Senior Associate and beyond within a firm that genuinely prioritises its people professional development and worklife balance.

The Role

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Manage your own caseload of commercial disputes including:
    • Shareholder and partnership disputes
    • Property and land disputes
    • Landlord and tenant matters
    • Insolvency-related litigation
    • General commercial contract disputes
  • Report directly to the Head of Department supporting them with:
    • Workflow management across the team
    • Budget and financial performance of the practice group
    • Business development and marketing initiatives
    • Work closely with commercial clients providing pragmatic solutions-focused advice
    • Contribute to team growth helping to shape processes client care standards and best practice
About You
Experience & Requirements

To be considered for this role you will ideally have:

  • Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales
  • 36 years PQE in Commercial Litigation (applications slightly outside this range will be considered on merit)
  • Strong experience handling a mixed caseload of:
    • Shareholder / partnership disputes
    • Property and landlord & tenant disputes
    • Commercial contract disputes
    • Insolvency-related matters (desirable)
  • Technical skills & competencies:
    • Confident with drafting pleadings witness statements and correspondence
    • Experience with ADR mediation and settlement negotiations
    • Comfortable with court procedures in the County Court and High Court
    • Client-facing experience including direct contact with SME and owner-managed business clients
    • A commercial mindset able to balance legal risk with practical business outcomes
    • Strong communication skills both written and verbal with excellent attention to detail
    • A proactive collaborative approach and a genuine interest in business development and growing client relationships
Technical Skills & Qualifications
  • Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) essential
  • Commercial Litigation background from a recognised commercial or regional firm
  • Solid working knowledge of:
    • Civil Procedure Rules (CPR)
    • Insolvency Act / Companies Act (advantageous)
    • Landlord & tenant legislation
  • Confident using case management systems and standard Microsoft Office tools
