Job Overview

DWF, a leading global provider of integrated legal and business services, is hiring an Associate or Senior Associate with strong experience in transactional (non-contentious) construction matters to join our expanding Construction team. The role involves working on ambitious projects across the UK and internationally with a team recognized as leaders in this field. It offers frontline experience supporting the expanding Real Estate, Corporate, Commercial, Planning, and Finance teams, along with non-contentious opportunities arising from our strong global construction disputes team. The non-contentious workload includes development work with sector exposure to retail, housing, student accommodation, hospitality, regeneration, infrastructure and energy projects. Clients range from regional, national and international companies, financing institutions, central government and local authorities, with the full range of non-contentious and contentious construction services.

The role will be based in our Glasgow or Edinburgh office, with a flexible, hybrid working approach. We also welcome applications from candidates based in Manchester, Newcastle, Leeds, Liverpool or Birmingham who are happy for occasional travel to Edinburgh.

Responsibilities
  • Provide pre‑contractual procurement advice and prepare and negotiate construction documentation.
  • Support national and international clients.
  • Provide project advisory advice and collaborate closely with clients to deliver practical, clear and robust legal advice, ensuring their commercial objectives are met.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to deliver innovative solutions and maintain the highest standards of client service.
Qualifications
  • Solid experience in construction law.
  • Knowledge and experience in drafting and revising contracts and appointments for a range of projects and parties.
  • Experience building working relationships internally and externally to develop business networks and create a solid understanding of the business direction and client needs.
  • Ability to prioritise work effectively and maximise efficiency in working practices.
