TechAtlas’ analyses are captured in a unique collection of competitive landscapes, or ‘maps’, that identify competitive therapeutics, diagnostics, research tools, and/or technological capabilities in a given area.

About the Role:

Synolo Therapeutics is seeking a curious, innovative, and highly collaborative Associate Scientist in Protein Science to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for a scientist with a passion for discovering and developing novel medicines who thrives working in a fast‑paced startup environment. In this role, you will contribute to the cloning, expression, purification and biophysical characterization of antibody drug leads and other protein‑based reagents. You will also play a key role in our drug discovery and development programs, working closely with our cross‑functional team to apply your expertise in protein biochemistry. As part of a dynamic and creative team, you will help advance our mission to develop novel therapeutics to improve patients’ lives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Key contributor to the maintenance and growth of in‑house capabilities of protein expression in mammalian cells (e.g., CHO) and of protein purification to support research activities, project goals, and platform development
  • Design and execute experiments to express and purify multi‑specific biologics
  • Perform biophysical and biochemical characterization to assess protein solubility, stability, and binding properties
  • Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams to optimize workflows and troubleshoot challenges
  • Study protein solubility and stability with various biophysical techniques
  • Analyze experimental results and communicate findings clearly and effectively
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Hands‑on experience in mammalian cell culture, expression, and purification of recombinant antibodies and/or other classes of proteins
  • Expertise in protein purification and characterization using FPLC and HPLC systems, with familiarity in various types of chromatography techniques including Protein A/G affinity, IMAC, ion exchange, SEC, and HIC
  • Extensive experience with current molecular biology and cell biology techniques, including molecular cloning, mammalian cell culture and transfection, Western blot, SDS‑PAGE, ELISA, etc.
  • Proven experience in determining binding kinetics and affinity between antigen and antibody using SPR, BLI, or monolith
  • Hands‑on experience in characterization of antibodies using techniques such as DSF, DLS, and/or SEC‑MALS
  • Exceptional analytical skills, with a strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask effectively, ensuring consistent follow‑through on action items
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships with cross‑functional teams
  • Clear communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly
Education & Experience:
  • We welcome applications from individuals with diverse experiences who are excited to work in a fast‑moving biotech environment.
  • BS/BA, MS/MA, or PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field. For Associate Scientist: MS with 3+ years industry experience or BA/BS with 5+ years industry experience. Level commensurate with experience.
Experience:
  • Practical experience in the biophysical and biochemical analysis of proteins is strongly desired
  • Hands‑on experience with expressing, purifying and characterizing bi‑specific or multi‑specific biologics
  • Experience performing developability studies on lead candidate molecules is a plus
