Job summary

Turner & Townsend in London is recruiting an Associate Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager for infrastructure projects. You will apply your cost management expertise and lead a team on major programmes, ensuring value engineering and strong client relationships.

The role requires MRICS, NEC3 experience, post-contract administration and proven leadership. You will work in a dynamic environment delivering critical public works with governance and budget control.

Qualifications

• Proven cost/quantity surveying experience with commercial management capability.
• MRICS preferred; NEC3 contracts knowledge (Option C – Target Cost) desirable.
• Post-contract administration experience on major programmes and infrastructure projects.
• Experience leading and managing teams across complex projects.

Responsibilities

• Establish professional relationships with clients and project teams.
• Administer contracts in line with project objectives and policies.
• Provide accurate cost monitoring, forecasting and reporting to budget.
• Monitor cost variance and cash flow; ensure timely applications.
• Collaborate with client and contractor teams on deliverables and KPIs.
• Lead contract change management and governance compliance.
• Improve forecast accuracy and support stakeholders with commercial insight.
• Negotiate final accounts and oversee project closure.

Job Description

Turner & Townsend is one of the leading consultancy providers to the Infrastructure sector, we are looking to recruit an Associate Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager for our prestigious infrastructure-based projects.

As an experienced individual you will come with a wealth of experience in cost management ready to apply your existing knowledge in a new and dynamic environment. We are looking for a candidate comfortable in having challenging conversations with a consultative approach that can bring the best out of their team and client.

MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE

• Establishing friendly, professional and appropriate relationships with clients, colleagues and other parties involved in the projects and programmes we support.
• Administering a variety of contracts in accordance with project objectives and policies.
• Providing accurate project cost monitoring, forecasting and reporting to completion in line with budget.
• Pro-actively monitoring and managing cost variance and contract cash flow and ensuring that applications are made correctly and in a timely manner.
• Collaborating with client and contractor teams to manage the delivery of project deliverables, KPIs, and objectives, including programme performance, cost control, and value engineering.
• Managing contract change effectively, ensuring that projects remain within governance and adopt best practice.
• Driving improvements in the accuracy of forecasts and budgets.
• Proactively providing sound commercial knowledge and support to all stakeholders.
• Ensuring that final accounts are negotiated and agreed.
• Leading people and commissions as needed.

Qualifications

• Proven Cost /Quantity Surveying/ Commercial Management experience
• Preferably MRICS NEC3 contracts (in particular Option C – Target Cost)
• Post contract administration
• Experience of working on Major Programmes and Projects
• Experience of working on Infrastructure project (Rail, air/aviation, marine/ports, utilities, highways)
• Experience in leading and managing teams
