TheCardio-Respiratory department at Leeds Teaching Hospitals is looking torecruit an Associate Practitioner to support the non-invasive cardiacphysiology services. The successful candidate will work closely with theCardiac Physiologists/Scientists and assist them with high qualitydiagnostics including ambulatory analysis, exercise tolerance testing,cardio-pulmonary exercise test and tilt table services.
Weare looking for individuals with clinical experience and knowledge incardiology. Applicants should have the ability to record, interpret andreport ECG's as a minimum and hold certification. The SCST ECG diploma isdesirable.
Thesuccessful applicant will support the ambulatory cardiac monitoring services,analysing and reporting ECG recordings from cardiac monitors and escalatingabnormal findings to the senior clinical team. The successful applicant willalso assist the Cardiac Physiologists/Scientists with performing exercisetolerance tests and full cardiopulmonary exercise tests. They will play a keyrole in non-invasive services and support our ECG team with some leadershipresponsibilities such as co-ordinating daily tasks for Senior AssistantTechnical officers and Assistant Technical Officers alongside the seniorleadership team.
Inaddition, the role will include administrative duties such as stock levelmanagement and ordering. Applicants should possess excellent communicationskills, be a role model to others and have the ability to demonstrateexemplary patient centered care. .

PRINCIPALDUTIES & AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
ClinicalDuties
Carries out all aspects of clinicaland administration work as approved by their line manager, working withinestablished codes of practice and local departmental standard operatingprocedures.
To be professionally and legallyaccountable for all aspect of own work, including the management of patientsin your care and dealing with their specific needs.
Routinely undertakes assessment ofboth in-patients and out-patients prior to a range of investigations and usesown discretion in order to ensure the patient is suitable for theinvestigation.
Communicates with all members ofthe multidisciplinary team to ensure the best possible care for patients,including: negotiating, reassurance, empathy, and persuasiveness.
Communicates sensitive informationabout routine and complex investigations to patients and relatives/carersincluding children and those with learning and/or physical disabilities.
Calibrates and manipulates a widerange of complex, expensive, technical equipment which process, create,update and store information. Identifies any automatically generated reportsthat are false and or inaccurate, escalating any errors to the appropriatemember of LTHT staff.
Performs / provides factual reportson a number of investigations on a region-wide range of patients includingacutely ill paediatric and elderly patients and those with a range ofphysical and learning disabilities.
Clinical investigations would bedependent on the applicants skill set and area of clinical focus and mayinclude but are not limited to:
Demonstrates personal duty of carefor safe use of expensive and highly complex equipment. Is responsible forensuring that others are fully trained in the safe use of such equipmentwithin their specialist area.
Responsible for maintenance ofstock levels and consumables and for day to day security of expensiveequipment, e.g. portable devices. Reporting equipment faults in accordancewith departmental policy.
Professional
Responsible for maintaining owntechnical proficiencies and competencies in clinical areas.
Maintains and develops currentknowledge of evidence based practice in each clinical area.
Responsible for reporting clinicalincidents and adverse events to the appropriate Team Manager / ServiceManager.
Responsible for formal mentorshipand input into coordination of training of designated junior staff andstudents.
Be an active member of thein-service training programme by attendance at, and participation in,in-service training programmes, tutorials, individual training sessions,external courses and peer review.
Regularly provides training infundamental cardiac techniques to trainees and junior staff members.
Undertakes Continuing ProfessionalDevelopment (CPD) in accordance with Personal Development Plan (PDP) asdeveloped with Line Manager.
Attends and participates indepartmental staff meetings.
Frequently undertakes collection ofdata for use in audit, research projects and equipment testing.
Works in close liaison with otherstaff members to ensure efficient and effective delivery of service,contributing to maintaining a friendly and welcoming working atmosphere.
Organisational
Responsible for ensuring the LeedsWay Values and LTHT vision is integrated within the Cardio-Respiratory CSU.
Demonstrates the ability toprioritise and organise the clinical caseload within a designated area ofcardiology.
Responsible for obtaining,transmitting and storing information relating to the delivery of a careservice.
Keep accurate and timely records,inputting accurate data into the departmental databases allowing for theproduction of statistical resource information for accurate billing.
Other
Communicates with all members ofthe multidisciplinary team to ensure the best possible care for the patient.Including giving detailed advice to other specialist professions which willinfluence patient care/outcomes. Communication skills including:
Immediate Life Support trainingessential during procedures performed on acutely ill patients and those atvery high risk of sudden cardiac death.
Expected to undertake informaltraining by means of periodic in-house assessments.
To comply with the Trusts manualhandling policy at all times.
