A prominent healthcare provider in Bristol is looking for an Associate Practitioner in Haematology and Blood Transfusion. This role involves operating and maintaining complex laboratory equipment, preparing samples for analysis, and training laboratory staff. The successful candidate will join a friendly team within a modern laboratory, contributing to high-quality healthcare services. Applications are welcome from candidates with relevant laboratory experience and skills in biological testing. This is a non-HCPC registered position, and participation in a rota system is required.

As an Associate Practitioner, you will be trained in all areas of Haematology (Automation, Coagulation, Haemoglobinopathies) and Blood Transfusion.
The department is housed in a modern, purpose-built laboratory and the successful candidate will be joining a busy but friendly team. Haematology uses the Beckman Coulter DxH900-2S with Cellavision DM9600 Digital Morphology, ACL TOPS 750 Coagulation analysers, Benson’s Viscometers for Plasma Viscosity, Sebia Capillarys 3 for HbA1c and Haemoglobinopathy Screening. We also provide Antenatal and Newborn Screening services for Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia. The Blood Transfusion laboratory uses the Werfen Neo Iris Blood Grouping analysers.
The Blood Sciences department has a fully tracked Beckman Coulter DxA5000 automated system connecting Haematology, Coagulation, Chemistry and Virology analysers. We have accreditation by UKAS under ISO:15189 and are assessed for compliance by MHRA. We are approved by the IBMS as a training laboratory for both the registration portfolio, leading to HCPC registration and specialist portfolios.
