Job summary

DWF Law LLP is seeking an Associate to join our Major Injury & Casualty team, handling Employers Liability, Public Liability and Personal Injury/ Catastrophic Loss files. You will work on high value, complex litigated cases with a collaborative environment and a strong bonus and benefits package.

The role can be worked from Glasgow or Edinburgh with hybrid working. You should have at least 6 months’ experience managing your own caseload in EL/PL/P.I.

Qualifications

• 6+ months experience handling own caseload of EL/PL/P.I. and Catastrophic Loss claims.
• Experience managing EL/PL and Catastrophic Loss claims.
• Insurance litigation experience is essential.
• Previous experience in Scottish law and Scottish qualifications is essential.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring that cases are progressed as quickly and efficiently as possible.
• Strong technical ability to include a thorough grasp of principles, case law and litigation.
• Working with our valued and long-standing clients to understand requirements and manage cases in line with service level agreements and best practice.
• Prioritising work effectively and maximising efficiency in working practices.
• Building stakeholder relationships both internally and externally.
• Developing your technical and commercial knowledge via training or working practices.

What will help you succeed in this role?

Essential Criteria;

• 6+ months Experience handling own caseload of pre-litigated and Sheriff CourtEmployers Liability (EL), Public Liability (PL) and Personal Injury and Catastrophic Loss claims,as well as assisting more senior team members with large value, complex files.
• Experience managing Employers Liability (EL), Public Liability (PL) and Catastrophic Loss claims.
• Insurance litigation experience is essential.
• Previous experience in Scottish law and a Scotland legal qualifications, are essential for this role.

Desirable Criteria;

• Experience handling litigation experience in one of the following area's - Employers Liability, Public Liability, Motor, RTA, Casualty, Abuse, Disease, Personal Injury, Serious Injury and Catastrophic Injury
• Experience of acting for Defenders, including litigation experience.
• Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships and to work effectively under pressure.
