Job summary

Ridge and Partners LLP is seeking an Associate Partner to lead our Bristol civil engineering team. You will drive project delivery across residential and large-scale infrastructure while building relationships with public and private sector clients.

You will oversee multi-disciplinary design, manage resources, and provide pre-planning advice including FRA and drainage strategies. The role demands leadership of project teams and a proactive approach to problem solving.

Qualifications

• Experience leading civil engineering teams on multi-disciplinary projects.
• Chartered status or active pursuit of Chartership (CEng).
• ICE/MICe membership or equivalent professional body involvement.
• Proficiency with Civil 3D and Infodrainage for analysis and design.
• Strong design experience across drainage, highways and related infrastructure.

Responsibilities

What’s The Opportunity

We are looking for an Associate Partner to lead the expansion of our Bristol civil engineering team. We deliver a wide range of projects for both public and private sector clients with schemes varying from typical residential developments up to large scale infrastructure and complex multi‑phased development schemes.

What you need to do to be effective in this role

• Ability to lead and develop a team of civil engineers across a broad range of projects
• Win work by introducing Ridge to new clients or developing relationships with existing Ridge clients
• Oversee the delivery of projects of various sizes and complexity to develop work‑winning relationships
• Manage resources to ensure effective and timely delivery of work
• Interface with other disciplines on multi‑discipline projects i.e. architects, building services engineers, project managers and cost managers
• Undertake project administration and financial management
• Identify new opportunities for work and prepare fee proposals and submissions
• Represent Ridge through external liaison with Clients, stakeholders and approving bodies
• Manage and co‑ordinate highways and drainage designs relating to large development infrastructure projects
• Provide pre‑planning advice and services to client including flood risk assessments (FRA’s), drainage strategies, and other pre‑planning advice
• Provide day‑to‑day client interface, conducting site visits for technical assessment or problem‑solving

The skills and experience you need to have for this role

• Experience in a similar role, ideally within a multi‑disciplinary organisation
• Ideally be professionally qualified as a chartered engineer (CEng) or keen to become chartered
• A member of (or an aspiration to become a member of) the Institution of Civil Engineers (M.I.C.E.) or equivalent relevant professional body
• Previous experience of Civil 3D and Infodrainage
• Design experience that can be discussed at interview
• Experience in drainage (foul and surface) and minor roadway design
• A good understanding of section 38, 278 (Highways Act) and section 104, 106 and 185 (Water industry Act) agreements
• Experience with designing a wide range of projects from conception through to completion (including calculations, drawings and specifications)
• Familiar with Part H and M of Building Regulations, British Standards and local authority requirements
• Familiarity with Building Information Modelling (BIM) and its application within civil engineering
• A solid understanding of drainage design, SUDS, highways, cut and fill analysis
• Be proficient at design and happy to participate in productive work
• Technical skills, knowledge and experience to find creative solutions for even the most complex challenges and the ability to communicate these clearly to all parties.
• Experience of leading project teams.
