Salaried GP Opportunity 5 to 7 Sessions (Flexible) | Gower Street Practice, Central London

We are looking for a motivated, compassionate GP to join Gower Street Practice, an established and close-knit surgery located in the heart of Bloomsbury.

Situated between Covent Garden and the West End surrounded by several universities and cultural institutions, our growing practice serves a unique patient population, including students, academic staff, and local residents.

Because of the seasonal nature of the demand from our patient population, we are also in a position to negotiate a term-time only job plan if this would be of interest.

Due to the seasonal nature of our patient demand, you may be asked to work part of the week at our second practice in Kilburn during the holidays.

Main duties of the job

You will demonstrate safe, clinical decision‑making and expert care for patients within the general practice. You will work with the multi‑disciplinary general practice team of PA's, trainees and nursing staff to support the delivery of policy and procedures and meet the needs of our patients.

Job responsibilities

Job Summary:

The Associate General Practitioner (GP) provides comprehensive and continuing medical care for individuals, families, and the wider community. The GP will diagnose, treat, and manage a wide range of health conditions, emphasizing health promotion, disease prevention, and continuity of care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high‑quality, patient‑centred clinical care to all patients.
  • Diagnose and manage both acute and chronic illnesses.
  • Perform physical examinations and interpret diagnostic tests as required.
  • Prescribe medications and monitor their effects.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records using the practice's clinical system (e.g. EMIS).
  • Participate in clinical audits, significant event reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the wider multidisciplinary team including nurses, healthcare assistants, and allied health professionals.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff and trainees if applicable.
  • Adhere to GMC guidelines, CQC standards, and practice protocols.
  • Engage in continuing professional development (CPD) and re‑validation activities.
Qualifications
  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and inclusion on the GP Register.
  • Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Practice or equivalent.
  • Membership of a medical indemnity organization.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Commitment to high standards of clinical care and patient safety.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in clinical practice.
  • Interest in clinical leadership, education, or research is a plus.
