Associate Geo-environmental Consultant – Reading

We are seeking a highly motivated Associate Geo-environmental Consultant to join our established team based in Reading. You will work within our ground engineering team, contributing to wide multi‑disciplinary projects as part of our regional development capability and being part of a national community of ground engineering professionals. About the Role

Our team provides contaminated land and geotechnical and geo‑hazard consultancy services to the land development and infrastructure sectors. We work holistically across these disciplines to provide value‑driven solutions, contributing to a range of local and national projects and frameworks with private clients/developers on the investigation, assessment, remediation and redevelopment of brownfield land, as well as supporting internal teams for road, rail and other infrastructure and energy projects.

Key Responsibilities

Take day‑to‑day responsibility for the delivery of projects, ensuring technical quality and adherence to budget and programme. Interact with other members of a multi‑disciplinary team as well as clients, sub‑contractors and fellow professionals. Design, manage and supervise ground investigations, interpret soil, water and gas data, and produce comprehensive risk assessments and reports (including GQRA and ideally DQRA and EIA). Write clear and persuasive proposals, manage projects within budget and provide technical leadership to junior team members.

Required Skills & Experience
  • Strong foundation in environmental science or engineering; a degree in geology, hydrogeology, chemistry, or environmental science.
  • Highly preferred postgraduate qualification and extensive postgraduate experience.
  • Professional accreditation – chartered or actively working towards chartership with a recognised professional body.
  • Additional certifications such as SoBRA, RoGEP, or CL: AIRE DoW:CoP are highly valued.
  • Substantial experience in land quality assessment and contaminated site management within a consulting environment.
  • Experience in designing, managing and supervising ground investigations, interpreting soil, water, and gas data, and producing risk assessments and reports.
  • Experience in related disciplines such as hydrogeology, geotechnics, and earthworks is a significant advantage.
  • Willingness to travel to UK offices and sites and hold a full, clean UK driving licence.
