Descripción del empleo

We’re looking for an experienced Associate Electrical Engineer to join our growing multidisciplinary Building Services team with a focus on High and Medium Voltage electrical engineering design and consultancy, across a wide range of sectors, including Advanced Manufacturing, Healthcare and Mission Critical projects.

This is an exciting opportunity to take a key role in the technical delivery of complex projects, combining your electrical engineering expertise with project leadership, team coordination and client engagement.

You’ll work closely with Project Managers, engineers, designers and other disciplines to develop and deliver high-quality electrical engineering solutions, while supporting the development of our people and the continued growth of team.

About The Role:

As an Associate Electrical Engineer, you’ll take a key role in the technical leadership and delivery of High and Medium Voltage electrical systems and supporting other LV electrical design packages.

You’ll be responsible for leading electrical engineering workstreams, coordinating technical teams and ensuring solutions meet client requirements, programme and quality expectations.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Leading the electrical engineering design and delivery of High and Medium Voltage electrical system designs and workstreams.

  • Managing the technical scope of work within your discipline, including programme, resource and budget requirements.

  • Developing robust electrical engineering solutions for complex, high-reliability environments.

  • Providing technical direction and support to engineers and designers within the project team.

  • Liaising with external stakeholders including client representatives, utility providers etc.

  • Delegating work appropriately and reviewing technical deliverables to ensure quality and consistency.

  • Producing and reviewing electrical engineering calculations, specifications, reports, drawings and technical documentation.

  • Developing and reviewing electrical systems and equipment designs appropriate to the project requirements.

  • Coordinating electrical design with mechanical, structural, architectural and other specialist disciplines to deliver fully integrated solutions.

  • Working closely with Project Managers to monitor progress, identify risks and resolve technical or delivery issues.

  • Building positive and effective relationships with clients, understanding their requirements and providing clear technical advice.

  • Representing the electrical discipline at design meetings, project reviews and other client or stakeholder forums.

  • Supporting and mentoring engineers and designers, contributing to their technical development and career progression.

  • Applying Stantec’s quality management processes and ensuring appropriate QA/QC procedures are followed.

  • Supporting the preparation of fee proposals, scopes of work and technical submissions.

  • Applying relevant technical standards, legislation, British Standards and Building Regulations throughout the design process.

  • Considering sustainability, carbon reduction and energy efficiency as part of electrical engineering solutions.

  • Maintaining and developing your professional knowledge through industry engagement, technical development and relevant professional activities.

Your Impact:

Increasingly, our client’s projects require carefully considered electrical engineering solutions where resilience, reliability, redundancy, performance and efficiency are critical.

As an Associate Electrical Engineer, you’ll help shape these solutions while providing technical leadership across project teams. You’ll have the opportunity to influence design decisions, develop client relationships and help deliver projects that are technically challenging and highly collaborative.

You’ll also play an important role in developing the next generation of engineers, sharing your knowledge and helping to create a strong technical culture across Stantec’s Buildings business.

About You:

We’re looking for an experienced electrical engineer who combines strong technical expertise with the ability to lead people, coordinate project delivery and work confidently with clients.

You’ll bring:
  • Significant experience in electrical engineering design within a consultancy or similar engineering environment.

  • Strong experience working on HV/MV electrical distribution systems (design).

  • In-depth knowledge and experience of electrical engineering services, including systems and equipment design, calculations and drawing production.

  • Experience leading electrical engineering workstreams or technical packages on complex projects.

  • The ability to develop and coordinate solutions for complex systems involving multiple disciplines and interacting components.

  • Experience coordinating and reviewing the work of engineers and designers.

  • Strong understanding of project scope, programme, budget and resource requirements.

  • Good knowledge of relevant British Standards, Building Regulations, technical standards and industry guidance.

  • An understanding of sustainability, carbon reduction and energy efficiency within building services design.

  • Experience using relevant design and modelling tools, including Revit. Knowledge of IES or other relevant engineering analysis tools would be advantageous.

  • Confident client-facing and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly and build effective working relationships.

  • Experience mentoring and supporting the development of less experienced engineers.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve complex engineering challenges.

  • A collaborative and proactive approach, with strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

Qualifications:
  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
