Associate Director / Principal Engineer - Overhead Lines (OHL)

Location: UK Wide, flexible working, no set days in office.

A leading engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced Associate Director/Principal Engineer to join its Transmission & Distribution team with a specific focus on OHL Design. This role offers the opportunity to work on major UK energy infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and deliver overhead line design projects up to 400kV, including PLS-CADD modelling, line routing, structural analysis, sag‑tension calculations, clearance reports and more.
• Provide technical expertise in bids, proposals, and client meetings.
• Manage project scope, technical delivery, and client engagement.
• Conduct feasibility studies and ensure compliance with industry standards.
• Review engineering deliverables and perform quality checks.

What We're Looking For:

• Degree in engineering or equivalent technical discipline.
• Ideally Chartered Engineer (CEng) with a recognised institution (e.g., IET).
• Experience delivering projects for transmission system operators.
• Overhead line engineering experience up to 400kV.
• LCDAE & CDAE certifications advantageous.
• Strong communication skills.
