Job overview

This post will have devolved responsibility and accountability for the professional leadership of nursing at Harefield Hospital.

The main components of the role are :
  • To work in partnership with the Clinical Group Executive to ensure that all aspects of the Clinical Group’s annual plan are achieved and there is a clear strategy for nursing workforce, service, education, and research
  • To contribute to the clinical leadership and management of the wider Trust, working in collaboration with the Group Senior Nursing team, ensuring that the voice of nursing is strong and effective, and representing the Clinical Group and the wider Trust nationally and internationally
  • To work with the Clinical Group Director of Nursing to ensure overall structures, processes and oversight of clinical governance and management of risk, including CQC readiness and compliance

Main duties of the job

The main components of the role are :
  • To work in partnership with the Clinical Group Executive to ensure that all aspects of the annual plan are achieved and there is a clear strategy for nursing workforce, service, education, and research
  • To hold delegated responsibility on behalf of the Director of Nursing to ensure the Trust fulfils its statutory duties – these portfolios will be determined on an individual basis relevant to the Clinical Group core business
  • To contribute to the clinical leadership and management of the wider Trust, working in collaboration with the Group Senior Nursing team, ensuring that the voice of nursing is strong and effective, and representing the Clinical Group and the wider Trust nationally and internationally
  • With the Director of Nursing to ensure overall structures, processes and oversight of clinical governance and management of risk, including CQC readiness and compliance

Experience and Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • Experience of working at a senior nurse level in a leadership role
  • Experience of quality improvement and transformation
  • Extensive experience of managing nursing budgets and a track record of delivering financial targets
  • Experience of writing business cases and management reports to a very high standard for internal and external consumption
  • Experience of being able to identify a problem, find a solution and implement and sustain a change in clinical practice across a complex directorate / organisation
  • Experience of analysing highly complex data and or national guidance and being able to interpret and apply it locally

  • Experience of working in an AHSC
  • Delivery of a clinical accreditation programme
