Job summary

RSK Environment in Manchester is seeking an experienced Associate Director to lead the delivery of Environmental Impact Assessments for the UK's major infrastructure and renewable energy projects. • Degree in Environmental Sciences, Geography, Planning or related discipline.
• Full membership of IEMA and/or Chartered Environmentalist status.
• Extensive experience leading EIAs within infrastructure, energy or utilities.
• Experience delivering major linear infrastructure projects (overhead lines, grid, pipelines).
• Strong knowledge of EIA legislation, policy, guidance and best practice.
• Proven project and financial management experience.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, report writing and communication skills.
• Ability to win work and develop client relationships.

RSK Environment is looking for an experienced Associate Director to lead the delivery of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) for some of the UK's most significant infrastructure and renewable energy projects. With a strong pipeline of Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs), Developments of National Significance (DNS), and major planning applications, this is an opportunity to take a leading role in shaping nationally important projects while helping to grow and develop an established team. We're particularly interested in hearing from candidates with experience of large-scale linear infrastructure projects, including overhead power lines, electricity transmission, grid infrastructure, pipelines, highways, rail or other major utility schemes.

The Opportunity

As an Associate Director, you'll act as EIA Lead on complex, multi-disciplinary projects, working closely with major developers, utility providers, renewable energy organisations and public sector clients. You'll combine technical excellence with commercial awareness, providing strategic environmental advice, leading project teams and developing long-term client relationships that drive continued growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead Environmental Impact Assessments for major infrastructure and renewable energy projects.
• Act as the primary client contact and trusted advisor throughout project lifecycles.
• Manage multidisciplinary technical teams and coordinate specialist environmental inputs.
• Lead the preparation and review of Environmental Statements, feasibility studies and environmental reports.
• Drive business development activities, including bids, tenders and framework opportunities.
• Develop and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships.
• Mentor and support the development of junior and mid-level consultants.
• Contribute to the strategic growth of the EIA team and wider business.

About You

You'll be a commercially minded environmental professional with significant EIA experience and a track record of successfully delivering large, complex projects.

• A degree in Environmental Sciences, Geography, Planning or a related discipline.
• Full membership of IEMA and/or Chartered Environmentalist status.
• Extensive experience leading EIAs within the infrastructure, energy or utilities sectors.
• Experience delivering major linear infrastructure projects, particularly overhead line, transmission, grid connection or utility schemes.
• Strong knowledge of EIA legislation, policy, guidance and best practice.
• Proven project management and financial management experience.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, report writing and communication skills.
• The ability to win work, develop client relationships and support business growth.
