Job Description Purpose of the role

To establish and nurture profitable partnerships with corporate clients. It's the bridge between the bank's offerings and clients' needs, ensuring mutual benefit and long-term success.

Accountabilities

Management of client relationships to identify the clients financial goals, challenges, and risk tolerance to support the analysis of data obtained from various sources, including the investment portfolio and cash flow, to identify trends, insights, areas for improvement and additional services to support client needs. Research and understanding of the client's industry trends, regulatory landscape, and competitive environment to inform strategic recommendations. Design of customised solutions that address the client's specific needs and objectives, incorporating a range of products and services from the bank's portfolio. Communication of the value proposition of proposed solutions, justification of recommendations, and negotiation of terms that are beneficial for both the client and the bank. Provision of guidance to clients to support their financial decisions, risk management and wealth management strategies and updates on market trends to ensure a positive and continuous relationship. Assessment of financial, legal, and operational risks associated with client relationships, and implementation of measures to minimise potential losses. Documentation of all client interactions, transactions, and agreements to ensure transparency and auditability, and communicate findings effectively to support product development, service offerings, and the overall bank strategy. Monitoring of client satisfaction, revenue generated, and other relevant metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of relationship management efforts. Execution of market research and analysis to support the identification of potential new opportunities, market trends, and customer needs, to develop strategies for business growth.

Join us as an Associate Director within our Large Corporate team working within our Technology, Media, and Telecoms (TMT) sector.

TMT covers a broad range of sectors, across technology (software and hardware businesses), media (broadcasting, content and rights plus marketing, advertising & events), telecommunications services (from infrastructure related to resellers) and a variety of digitally led sectors across B2C and B2B. This role will work alongside a team of Relationship Directors’ and Associate Directors with national coverage of this industry. You will work closely with your assigned Corporate Bankers in all sales support activity to drive the growth and management of their portfolios, and with Leadership to drive strategic initiatives. Proactively developing appropriate solutions to exceed client expectations and maximise overall satisfaction and advocacy. Supporting the implementation of complex transactions through effective deal management and use of a strong internal network. Assisting with business development activities and managing the onboarding of new client relationships.

To be successful as an Associate Director, you will need:
  • To be undertaking, or have completed, a credit skills development programme or qualification.
  • To be a team-focused individual, with the confidence to successfully interact with some of the Bank's most sophisticated and complex clients.
  • A track record of achievement and contributing to initiatives beyond day-to-day responsibilities.
  • To be comfortable building effective working relationships with internal partners across the Barclays Group to deliver positive client outcomes.
  • Experience using PowerPoint and Excel, alongside well-developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • A desire to develop deep knowledge of the Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) sectors.
  • Strategic thinking skills, with the ability to assess and identify new business development opportunities through market knowledge and the use of internal and external data sources.
Other highly valued skills include:
  • Good awareness and knowledge of Barclays Corporate & Investment Banking products & services.
  • Detailed knowledge of profit drivers (income, RWAs, pricing, credit grading, etc.)
  • Understanding of complex debt and organisational structures
  • Ability to proactively take personal initiative in terms of planning, organising and balancing workflow commitments
  • Good understanding of the policies and strategies as they relate to the demands of the Team’s client base
  • Previous experience of dealing with clients/customers
