Job description

Our client who is a national construction consultancy with over a decade of experience is seeking an experienced Associate Director (Cost Management) to support the Director in leading a high‑performing cost management function.

Our expert team delivers end to end project solutions, combining industry insight with innovative, results driven approaches.

This is a senior client facing role where you ll oversee multiple projects, manage commercial delivery, and ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and budget. You ll act as a trusted advisor to clients, leading project strategy and ensuring the team provides consistent, high quality cost management services.

In this role, you ll combine operational oversight with leadership responsibilities. You ll mentor Senior Cost Managers and Cost Managers, manage workloads, drive team performance, and support recruitment and development. You ll also play a key role in business development, shaping bids and identifying new opportunities to grow the consultancy s portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead commercial management of multiple projects from feasibility to final account
• Manage and mentor Senior Cost Managers and Cost Managers, providing guidance, 1:1s, and performance support
• Act as day to day client contact, building strong, trusted relationships
• Oversee cost reporting, risk management, valuations, and value engineering solutions
• Support business development initiatives, including bids and networking opportunities
• Ensure the team delivers high quality, commercially sound projects while maintaining ISO compliance and internal processes

What we re looking for

• Proven experience in a senior Cost Management role, ideally as a Senior Cost Manager or similar
• Strong leadership skills with experience managing and mentoring a team
• Excellent commercial, contract (JCT/NEC), and cost management knowledge
• Track record of delivering multiple, high value projects successfully
• Ability to influence stakeholders and drive business growth
• MRICS / MCIOB / NECReg qualified
• Full UK driving licence
