Job summary

Standard Chartered is seeking an Associate Director in its Consumer & Retail M&A team to support senior members in origination and execution of M&A and financing transactions. You will contribute to financial analysis, modelling and due diligence, and coordinate day-to-day execution workstreams across the Bank.

You will work on complex cross-border deals, develop expertise in M&A, financing products, and the Consumer & Retail sector, with opportunities to mentor junior colleagues and lead

Qualifications

• Degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering or another relevant discipline.
• Fluency in English.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.
• Familiarity with Bloomberg, S&P Capital IQ, Mergermarket or comparable financial databases.
• Knowledge of UK financial regulation and M&A processes involving listed transactions would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support the origination and execution of Consumer & Retail M&A and financing transactions.
• Build and maintain detailed financial models, including DCF and LBO models.
• Conduct valuation, financial, company, industry and benchmarking analysis.
• Prepare client presentations covering strategic alternatives and corporate finance topics.
• Coordinate day-to-day execution workstreams and stakeholders across the Bank.
• Lead the preparation of marketing and transaction materials with Directors and VPs.
• Review work produced by junior colleagues and contribute to their development.

Job Summary

As an Associate Director within the Consumer & Retail M&A team, you will support senior team members in the origination and execution of M&A and financing transactions.

As an Associate Director within the Consumer & Retail M&A team, you will support senior team members in the origination and execution of M&A and financing transactions.

You will contribute to financial analysis, modelling and valuation, company and industry research, due diligence, and the preparation of client-facing and transaction documentation. You will also coordinate day-to-day execution workstreams, work with deal teams across the Bank and review work produced by junior colleagues.

The role offers exposure to complex cross-border transactions and opportunities to develop expertise across M&A, financing products and the Consumer & Retail sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the origination and execution of Consumer & Retail M&A and financing transactions.
• Build and maintain detailed financial models, including discounted cash flow and leveraged buyout models.
• Conduct valuation, financial, company, industry and benchmarking analysis.
• Prepare client presentations covering strategic alternatives, M&A opportunities, capital markets activity and corporate finance topics.
• Support transaction due diligence and the preparation of marketing, transaction and other supporting documentation.
• Coordinate day-to-day execution workstreams and stakeholders across the Bank.
• Lead the preparation of marketing and transaction materials together with Directors and Vice Presidents.
• Review work produced by junior colleagues and contribute to their development.

Skills And Experience

• Relevant M&A or investment banking background, gained in a transaction-focused environment.
• Consumer & Retail sector exposure, with public-market M&A knowledge considered advantageous.
• Proven ability to contribute to transactions through financial modelling, valuation, company and industry research, due diligence and transaction documentation.
• Strong analytical capabilities, attention to detail and ability to manage several workstreams under tight deadlines.
• Effective project coordination, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to review work produced by junior colleagues and provide practical guidance.
• Exposure to both M&A and financing transactions would be advantageous.
