Job description

Manchester | Liverpool | Birmingham | Milton Keynes | London | Glasgow

Looking for a corporate tax role that offers greater visibility, genuine advisory exposure and a clear path to progression?

This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly successful Corporate Tax team experiencing significant growth across the mid-market private equity space.

Working closely with the deals practice, you'll support private equity-backed businesses through every stage of the investment lifecycle, from post-deal integration and restructuring through to growth planning, refinancing and eventual exit.

This role offers genuine flexibility around the balance of compliance and advisory work. Whether you enjoy a varied portfolio or want to focus more heavily on advisory projects, the position can be shaped around your strengths and career ambitions.

Why Join?

Shape Your Own Role

This team offers real flexibility in how work is allocated. For those looking to develop a more advisory-focused career, there is scope to concentrate heavily on project-based and commercial tax work.

High-Quality Private Equity Exposure

Work directly with mid-market private equity-backed businesses, building relationships with both portfolio companies and investment sponsors.

Exceptional Growth Story

The team is performing exceptionally well, winning significant new work and continuing to invest in growth. This creates genuine opportunities for ambitious individuals looking to accelerate their careers.

Direct Access to Senior Stakeholders

Enjoy meaningful exposure to Partners, Directors and clients from day one, rather than operating several layers removed from key decision-makers.

Diverse Client Base

The client portfolio spans multiple sectors, providing exposure to entrepreneurial businesses, household brands and high-growth organisations without being restricted to one industry specialism.

Flexible Working

The role can be based in a number of UK locations, supported by a flexible and hybrid working culture.

The Opportunity

As an Associate Director, you will take ownership of a portfolio of corporate tax clients, delivering a mix of compliance and advisory services across a broad range of sectors.

You will become a trusted adviser to clients, providing commercially focused tax solutions while building long-term relationships and supporting wider business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver corporate tax compliance and advisory services.
  • Work closely with the Deals team on post-transaction projects and strategic tax matters.

  • Lead client meetings and respond confidently to technical and commercial queries.
  • Identify opportunities for further advisory support across the client portfolio.
  • Support business development activity, pitches and proposals.
  • Coach and develop junior team members.
  • Collaborate with specialists across the wider tax and advisory practice.

About You

We are keen to speak with experienced tax professionals who combine strong technical capability with commercial awareness and excellent stakeholder management skills.

You are likely to have:

  • Strong UK corporate tax experience across compliance, advisory or both.
  • Experience gained within professional services.
  • Exposure to complex corporate groups, mid-market businesses or private equity-backed clients.
  • Strong client relationship management skills.
  • A commercial mindset and proactive approach to identifying opportunities.
  • Excellent communication skills and the credibility to engage with senior stakeholders.
  • ACA, ACCA, CTA or an equivalent professional qualification.

Applications are welcomed from experienced Managers looking to step up, as well as existing Associate Directors seeking greater opportunity and visibility.

This team has a strong track record of recognising and promoting high performers.

Recent promotions demonstrate the firm's commitment to investing in ambitious individuals and providing genuine opportunities for advancement. This is far more than a portfolio management role. It is an opportunity to increase your advisory exposure, build your profile internally and externally, and position yourself for future leadership roles.
