Job summary

Chase & Holland, Scunthorpe, seeks an Associate Director in Accountancy Practice to lead SME client work, oversee accounts and tax, and mentor the team. The role partners with the Director to drive growth in a well-regarded independent practice.

You will manage client relationships and contribute to strategy, cloud accounting adoption, and regulatory compliance while supporting ongoing development of the practice.

Qualifications

• Currently working as an Accounts Senior or Manager within an accountancy practice.
• AAT qualification as a minimum.
• Strong knowledge of statutory accounts preparation, management accounts and personal and business taxation.
• Experience managing client relationships and handling a varied portfolio of SME businesses.

Responsibilities

• Managing a portfolio of SME clients, building trusted relationships with business owners.
• Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts, management accounts and tax computations.
• Meeting clients to discuss year-end results, tax liabilities and future planning opportunities.
• Identifying tax efficiencies and advising clients on their business and company structures.
• Mentoring and developing team members through training, work reviews and constructive feedback.
• Taking responsibility for the team when required, including during the Director’s absence.
• Advising clients on cloud accounting and supporting the transition towards Making Tax Digital.
• Keeping up to date with relevant accounting standards, tax legislation and regulatory changes.
• Supporting the Director with the day-to-day management, growth and development of the practice.

The Role

As Associate Director, you will play an important part in the day-to-day running and continued development of the practice. About You

You will be an experienced accountancy practice professional who combines strong technical knowledge with a genuine commitment to client service. You will enjoy working with business owners, take pride in the quality of your work and be confident supporting colleagues to develop their skills. To be considered, you will ideally have:

• Currently working as an Accounts Senior or Accounts Manager within an accountancy practice and be ready to take the next step into a broader leadership role
• AAT qualification as a minimum
• Strong knowledge of statutory accounts preparation, management accounts and personal and business taxation
• Experience managing client relationships and handling a varied portfolio of SME businesses
• The confidence to review work, support colleagues and take responsibility for the wider team
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain financial and tax matters clearly
• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• A proactive, professional and supportive approach, with a genuine desire to contribute to the success of the practice.
