Job description

Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Associate Director to join a well-established team of construction experts delivering services in Expert Witness and Project Recovery across major construction and infrastructure projects in the UK and internationally.

This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to two key service lines:

  • Expert Witness Services: Supporting delay experts in preparing detailed delay analysis reports for adjudication, litigation, and other forms of dispute resolution.
  • Project Recovery Services: Assisting commercial and contract specialists in providing strategic advice to clients managing distressed projects and major programmes.
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct detailed forensic analysis of construction projects to assess delay and causation.
  • Support and/or lead the preparation of expert witness reports used in formal dispute resolution proceedings.
  • Engage with clients, legal advisors, and stakeholders to develop and articulate strong claims or defences in time-related disputes.
  • Assist with developing commercial recovery strategies that align with client objectives.
  • Analyse project performance to identify root causes of issues and provide actionable insights.
  • Review and assess contemporaneous project records and contractual documentation to support claims or dispute resolution strategies.
  • Guide and mentor junior team members, providing quality oversight and technical direction.
  • Represent the service line in client meetings, industry forums, and internal leadership initiatives.

This position also provides a clear pathway for individuals looking to establish themselves as a recognised expert, supported by a dedicated mentoring programme and close links to senior leadership.

About You
  • Analytical and detail-oriented with a forensic mindset.
  • Knowledgeable in construction industry practices and procedures, including relevant forms of contract (e.g., NEC, JCT, FIDIC).
  • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively, adapting to different working styles.
  • Transparent in your communication and committed to delivering work of the highest standard.
  • Ambitious and driven, with an interest in growing your profile within the dispute resolution and recovery space.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum 10 years’ relevant experience in construction and/or engineering.
  • Degree-qualified in a construction-related discipline (and/or law).
  • Proven experience in delay analysis and/or dispute resolution, ideally including exposure to expert witness work.

  • Ability to lead development of contract and commercial strategies on distressed projects or programmes.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distil complex issues into clear, client-facing documentation.
