Job summary

Charles River Laboratories in High Peak, UK is seeking an Associate Data Scientist on a 12-month fixed-term contract. The role is onsite with daily travel to the High Peak site, and focuses on analyzing data from the Retrogenix cell microarray platform.

You will compile high-quality client reports, develop understanding of the technology, and contribute to continuous improvement while working to tight deadlines and collaborating with project teams.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Biological Sciences/Bioinformatics; MSc preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Retrogenix Cell Microarray technology.
  • Hands-on experience with scientific data is desirable.
  • Experience in CRO/Biotech data roles is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication with stakeholders and strong problem-solving.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze data generated by the scientific team using Retrogenix microarray platform.
  • Assist with compilation of high-quality images and summary reports for clients.
  • Develop understanding of Retrogenix Cell Microarray technology.
  • Present work internally and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work flexibly to meet multiple project deadlines and support business needs.
  • Liaise with Project Managers and scientific teams to ensure data quality.

Charles River Laboratories are recruiting for an Associate Data Scientist to join our High Peak, UK site on an initial 12-month Fixed Term Contract. This is an onsite role, with daily travel to the High Peak site expected.

Job Description
What you’ll be doing:
  • Analyse data generated by the scientific team using the Retrogenix cell microarray platform. This is to include data interrogation, QC, problem solving and interpretation.
  • Assist with compilation of high-quality images and summary reports for clients, based upon appropriate reporting templates and client-specific requirements. This needs to be a clear and accurate record of the study and results.
  • Develop an understanding of the Retrogenix Cell Microarray technology platform.
  • Opportunities will be available to present work internally and to contribute to improving efficiency, assisting in continuous improvement initiatives as required.
  • Given the large and growing number of projects that are undertaken (>50 simultaneously) and varied client deadlines, this is a fast-moving field and requires an individual who can work flexibly and respond to tight deadlines contributing towards the business needs.
  • The role requires effective and professional communication and gives the opportunity to liaise with Project Managers, Project Leaders, scientific teams and to experience data quality management and reporting firsthand.

Skills And Experience
  • Degree within a Biological Sciences/Bioinformatics/similar, MSc preferred is essential
  • Strong understanding of the Retrogenix Cell Microarray Technology
  • Some hands-on experience of working with scientific data would be preferred
  • Any additional experience of working in a data focused role in a CRO/Biotech environment is highly desirable
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work well with internal/external stakeholders
  • Strong track record of scientific/statistical problem solving is essential
  • Candidates must have full Right to Work in the UK and not require visa sponsorship now or in the future as we are not able to provide this for this role.

The salary for the role is £27,000/annum + bonus + benefits. Please note that the salary varies within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
