Job summary

A leading consultancy in the UK is seeking an Associate Consultant for the Permitting and Compliance team. You will manage and prepare environmental permit applications, oversee compliance reporting, and build client relationships. Ideal candidates will have substantial experience in environmental management systems and possess a degree in science, engineering, or environmental science. Role Overview

RPS, a Tetra Tech company, is seeking an Associate Consultant for the Permitting and Compliance team based in the UK.

Responsibilities
  • Advise on and manage preparation of environmental permit applications, variations, and surrenders.
  • Develop and support environmental management system documents and management plans.
  • Oversee permit monitoring, compliance reporting, and pre‑operational condition discharge.
  • Respond to technical queries and deliver high quality project outputs.
  • Build and maintain client relationships, support business development and secure new work.
  • Organise junior staff, deliver projects on time and within budget, and provide junior staff development.
  • Ensure QA system quality control of project deliverables.
Qualifications
  • Substantial experience preparing permit applications, variations, and surrenders across sectors.
  • Experience developing environmental management systems and facility management plans.
  • Good understanding of UK regulator permitting guidance and requirements.
  • Strong project management skills, including financial management and budget delivery.
  • Proven ability to scope new work, produce costed proposals, and deliver business development success.
  • Excellent communication, problem‑solving and line management skills.
  • A degree in science, engineering or environmental science.
  • Valid UK driving licence.
