Job description

Associate – Catastrophic Injury & Large Loss

Location: UK-Wide – Remote Working

Salary: Up to £65,000, plus bonus and benefits

A leading national defendant practice is seeking an Associate to join its highly regarded Catastrophic Injury & Large Loss team. This is a superb opportunity to work on complex, high-value claims (typically £150k–£20m), acting for major household-name insurers across EL/PL and RTA.

You’ll work closely with experienced Partners on the most challenging catastrophic and large loss matters while also taking ownership of your own caseload. The team is one of the largest of its kind in the UK and is nationally recognised for technical excellence, collaboration and progression.

What you’ll be doing
  • Managing a varied caseload of defendant catastrophic injury, EL/PL and RTA claims (often high value and complex).
  • Drafting pleadings and advice, preparing reports to clients, attending hearings and working to court timetables and SLAs.
  • Conducting liability investigations, gathering evidence, instructing experts and tackling medical causation issues.
  • Building strong relationships with insurer clients and internal stakeholders; contributing to business development.
  • Acting as a supportive “go-to” for more junior team members.
About you
  • 5+ years PQE (Defendant PI) with a genuine interest in catastrophic injury and large loss.
  • Proven experience handling high-value defendant PI files (in your own right or assisting senior colleagues).
  • Highly organised, able to prioritise competing deadlines and deliver against client service standards.
  • Team player who enjoys mentoring and contributing to a high-performing practice.
Why this role?
  • Flexible/remote working available (UK-wide considered).
  • Clear progression pathway, high-quality supervision and access to leading experts.
  • Collaborative culture with genuine investment in professional development.
