Overview

They are seeking an Associate Building Surveyor with solid project experience within a consultancy environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in leading and delivering projects through the full lifecycle from feasibility and design through to handover. You'll manage your own workload, be client-facing, and get involved in a diverse mix of work ranging from small-scale refurbishments to multi‑million‑pound new builds. As an Associate Building Surveyor based in Manchester, your role will include:

Responsibilities
  • Manage and deliver projects across the full lifecycle from inception to completion.
  • Prepare client briefs, feasibility studies, specifications, and tender documentation.
  • Administer JCT contracts and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Carry out site inspections, condition and damp surveys.
  • Oversee project handovers and snagging processes.
  • Liaise closely with clients, contractors, and other consultants.
  • Support with bid writing and business development when required.
  • Mentor and support a team of junior Building Surveyors.
Qualifications
  • Relevant degree within Building Surveying.
  • MRICS or CIOB chartership is beneficial but not essential.
  • Experience delivering projects within a consultancy environment.
  • Experience in contract administration and project management, with strong knowledge of JCT contracts.
  • Commercially aware with the ability to work independently as well as part of a close‑knit team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain client relationships.
  • Driven, ambitious, and motivated to take on responsibility within a growing consultancy.
  • Strong organisational skills, able to manage competing priorities and deliver high‑quality work under pressure.
  • Willingness to complete a DBS check.
  • Full UK driving licence and own vehicle.
