The Role

Cumming Group are looking to recruit an Associate Building Surveyor to join our team in the London office. As an Associate Building Surveyor, you will provide expert‑level consultancy and project support for construction projects across various stages and sectors—from concept design to construction completion.

You will partner with a diverse set of clients and internal teams to deliver exceptional value, acting as a trusted advisor and helping to ensure successful project outcomes. We want an ambitious individual with an existing and new client driven focus delivering and maintaining high quality service lines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing a high quality of service on the projects you are managing and taking full ownership, ensuring all aspects of the project are considered.
  • Developing further your management skills by managing colleagues for the delivery of your projects working closely with members of staff in the delivery of projects.
  • Managing projects to high a standard which exceeds client expectations, via ownership and responsibility of tasks.
  • Running projects to budgets and programme, as well as establishing and ensuring the correct reporting lines are maintained.
  • Able to identify and resolve client issues or concerns and know when to escalate issues to senior members of staff.
  • Mentoring more junior members of the team and provide team members with formal and informal feedback to encourage them to develop their skills, knowledge and experience.
  • Growing your personal and professional profile via internal and external involvement in events, seminars and networks.
  • A trusted member of the business and respected by peers and leadership.
Qualifications
  • RICS qualified preferably with 5 years’ relevant post qualification commercial surveying experience, but a suitable candidate will be considered.
  • Proven track record on project management
  • Good appreciation of professional and project‑based building surveying matters.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Present a professional knowledgeable persona and possess business acumen.
  • Build, develop and maintain existing business and client relationships.
  • Organise and prioritise tasks so that they are completed within an agreed time frame.
  • Provide concise and clear written communication.
  • Understand the local and wider property market.
  • Able to actively contribute to business development activities, maintaining key client relationships and growing new.
  • Able to plan and manage own workload and that of other direct reports.
  • Able to delegate whilst maintaining accountability and ensuring delivery.
  • Clean driving license.
  • Accurate and excellent attention to detail.
  • Pro‑active and enjoys working autonomously and as part of a wider team.
  • Team player who deals effectively with colleagues and clients
