Associate Building Regulations Principal Designer
Location: London (Hybrid Working)
Salary: 55,000 - 65,000

A well-established, values-driven multidisciplinary consultancy is seeking an Associate Building Regulations Principal Designer to join its Building Regulations Principal Designer and Building Safety Act team. The role will be based in London and will support projects across the wider organisation.

The practice is known for its people-focused culture, long-standing client relationships, and integrated technical expertise across architecture, surveying, engineering, and safety disciplines. With a nationwide presence and continued plans for expansion, the organisation offers a dynamic and collaborative environment with a strong commitment to improving the built environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all Building Regulations Principal Designer (BRPD) commissions, including resource coordination, fee management, and reporting to the Director of Health & Safety
  • Coordinate internal technical specialists (architecture, building surveying, structures, and building services) to support organisational competence for BRPD duties
  • Review and comment on design risk and compliance documentation
  • Produce, review, and update compliance risk registers and project coordination records
  • Support clients with competence declarations
  • Oversee reviews of full design packages, coordinating technical input from internal specialists and identifying Building Regulations compliance issues
  • Assist in producing Building Regulations conformance statements and fulfilling BRPD statutory duties
  • Determine involvement during construction, including inspections, information requirements, and Principal Contractor liaison
  • Conduct periodic site inspections as required
  • Coordinate review of design changes that may impact Building Regulations compliance
  • Ensure required documentation is uploaded to agreed client information platforms

  • Experience supporting or developing a Building Regulations Principal Designer service
  • Confident, proactive communicator comfortable engaging with clients and project stakeholders
  • Demonstrable leadership skills
