We are now seeking to strengthen our leadership team and work winning capability in the North East of England, Scotland and Northern Ireland and this role will involve developing and building Arup’s PPM capability in these parts of the North Geography significantly strengthening Arup’s strategic programme management capability and having oversight of the delivery of some very substantial programmes. The new PPM Associate/Associate Director may also support other major projects nationally.

Once in role, you will be focused more on client programme strategic leadership opportunities, as opposed to construction programme delivery. You will be helping our clients with programme formation of the initial stages of the process, rather than providing Arup members of staff to deliver these programmes. You will be working with key stakeholders to develop opportunities, lead bids and support other Arup projects and major programmes.

As a part of our North Advisory Group leadership team you will be providing day-to-day leadership to our PPM team and taking accountability for winning and delivering PPM and advisory services work in the North market. This will involve developing and managing new client relationships, identifying opportunities and bidding for and winning new work to support the ongoing growth of the business.

You will lead project teams to deliver commissions, in full compliance with Arup Management System requirements and/or Client platforms. This will include integration and management of multidisciplinary teams to delivering work to a high standard of client satisfaction for our clients. As a senior member of our team you will also coach and support the development of junior colleagues on the team.

If you have a background of successful delivery of complex and challenging projects from a professional project management (client facing) perspective i.e. delivering to time, cost, quality, and sustainable outcomes, we’d like to hear from you!

You will have the following skills and experience:

Degree in engineering, architecture or project/construction management (or similar) and professional accreditation/certification such as APM (or similar) in the PPM environment.

Well established capability and track record in developing new client relationships, identifying opportunities and winning new project work.

Customer focused with client relationship management skills, including the ability to understand client requirements and bring together different Arup capabilities to develop a solution.

Understands and has experience in deploying various forms of construction contract, in particular NEC3 or 4 and/or bespoke forms of contract.

Experience in procurement of design and construction contracts on behalf of external clients is an advantage.
