Job Description

We are seeking an Associate Architect to join our Building Design teams in Newcastle. In this role you will take ownership of multiple projects from concept through to delivery, managing a small team of assistants and acting as the main client contact. You will work on diverse sectors including education, regeneration, commercial, transport, energy, defence, heritage and urban redevelopment.

Responsibilities
  • Lead design and technical leadership for major projects.
  • Provide design and technical leadership throughout the full design lifecycle.
  • Manage and inspire a small team of assistants.
  • Develop and deliver high‑quality design responses that are pragmatic, climate‑aware and culturally sensitive.
  • Maintain strong relationships with existing and new clients.
  • Prepare written deliverables, presentations and reports for clients and stakeholders.
  • Support and mentor junior staff, reviewing work to drive design quality.
  • Contribute to the development of multi‑disciplinary design culture and capability.
Qualifications
  • RIBA Part 3 qualification and ARB registration.
  • 5–10 years’ experience on complex projects at different stages of development.
  • Strong knowledge of UK Building Regulations and procurement processes.
  • Experience across multiple sectors and managing multi‑disciplinary teams.
  • Proficient in Revit, Adobe Suite, Enscape or V‑Ray, and AutoCAD.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare high‑quality design deliverables and client presentations.
  • Experience in business development and client relationship nurturing.
  • Self‑motivated, flexible, and a clear‑thinking team player.
