Job description

An Assistant Water Hygiene Engineer plays a key role in supporting the implementation of water hygiene management systems, helping to ensure that water systems are safe, clean, and compliant with relevant legislation such as ACoP L8 and HSG274, working alongside experienced engineers and site supervisors to carry out a variety of routine tasks that contribute to the prevention of Legionella and other waterborne bacteria in commercial, industrial, and residential water systems.

  • Assisting with temperature monitoring of tap outlets, tanks, and cylinders; cleaning and disinfection of shower heads; and inspection, servicing, and remedial works of thermostatic mixer valves and water heaters, including descaling and internal inspections
  • Assisting with the cleaning and disinfection of pipework systems, cold water storage tanks, and cooling towers in accordance with BS 8558:2011
  • Assisting with ventilation and kitchen extract cleans, fire damper inspections, and associated remedial works
  • Assisting with pre‑commission cleaning, commissioning, flushing works, and general water hygiene remedial tasks
  • Demonstrates mechanical aptitude, technical ability, and a positive attitude with enthusiasm for the company and job role
  • Capable of physical work, including lifting, carrying, and climbing
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team
  • Holds a full UK driving licence. Flexibility with hours is needed as some works require out of hours working or overnight stays. Overtime and sustenance will apply where applicable
