Job description

The Regulatory Change Team (RCT) deals with new regulatory developments starting at the pre‑publication stage (e.g. analysis of consultation papers, discussion papers, draft regulation, etc.) and leads them to full implementation. It covers financial regulations in the UK, EU‑wide, US, and other overseas jurisdictions where MUFG‑Securities (London) has licences.

The role holder will become a subject‑matter expert (SME) for the topics assigned and remain responsible for those topics throughout their regulatory lifecycle.

Responsibilities
  • Review and opine on consultations, complete impact analyses and record the analyses in the relevant system.
  • Advise key stakeholders on the application of new requirements, associated risks, and necessary controls from the early consultation stage through implementation.
  • Escalate material risks arising from regulatory developments to management.
  • Participate in pre‑implementation working groups with relevant stakeholders.
  • Prepare briefing papers, presentations, memos, newsletter articles, traceability documents, and general management information (MI) for the topics under your responsibility or where support is required.
  • Interact with other teams in Compliance and outside Compliance as required.
  • Attend and participate in trade‑association meetings, representing MUFG.
  • Support other SMEs with their portfolios as workload demands.
  • Keep up to date on all regulatory developments under your responsibility through targeted horizon scanning.
  • Follow regulatory requirements applicable to ensure each business is appropriately supported and to maintain the legal‑entity integrity of each of MUFG Bank and MUS.
  • Have responsibility for identifying and resolving conflicts or differences between MUFG Bank and MUFG Securities EMEA plc, escalating to your manager where required.
  • Carry out other duties within the scope, spirit and purpose of the role as requested by your line manager or Department Head.

  • Experience in wholesale banking, either in a compliance department, consultancy firm, regulatory agency or trade association.
