Job summary

The Hartford in London is seeking an Assistant Underwriter to support the Professional Liability underwriting team. You will assist in evaluating risks, gather and review information, conduct industry research, and prepare submissions.

This role is based in London, UK, and you are required to have the right to work prior to application. You will work with brokers and agents, maintain records in underwriting systems, and support renewals while adhering to underwriting guidelines.

Qualifications

• Degree level or equivalent qualification preferred.
• Demonstrable experience in insurance, preferably in underwriting support, claims, or a related analytical role.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to interpret complex data.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical information clearly.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• A keen interest in professional liability insurance and a desire to learn and grow within the underwriting field.
