The Opportunity

We're working in partnership with a well-established and highly respected transport planning consultancy to find a motivated Assistant Transport Planner to join their growing team. This role offers the chance to work on a diverse portfolio of projects, from major urban developments to local infrastructure schemes, across both the public and private sectors.

You’ll be supported by an experienced team of professionals who are passionate about innovation and sustainability in transport. The company has a strong reputation for delivering high-quality advice and creative solutions to complex transport challenges.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Supporting the preparation of Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, and other technical documents

  • Undertaking data analysis, including traffic flow assessments and junction capacity modelling

  • Assisting with site visits, transport surveys, and liaison with local authorities

  • Contributing to design and access strategies for new developments

  • Using industry-standard software such as Arcady, Picady, LinSig, and AutoCAD (training provided where necessary)

  • Engaging with multidisciplinary teams including planners, architects, and engineers

What We’re Looking For
  • A degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, or a related discipline

  • A genuine interest in transport, development, and sustainable mobility

  • Some experience (through university projects, placement, or employment) in transport planning or modelling is desirable but not essential

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; knowledge of modelling software is a bonus

  • A proactive, problem‑solving mindset with a desire to learn and grow in the field
