Job summary

Salford City Council's Traffic and Transportation team is looking for a skilled designer to develop robust design solutions that meet defined objectives and constraints. You will prepare feasibility studies, appraisal reports and other technical documents while working with Councillors, contractors and the public.

Required are AutoCAD proficiency, strong MS Office skills, and a sound knowledge of traffic management and road safety schemes.

Qualifications

• Intermediate/Advanced AutoCAD experience.
• Intermediate/Advanced MS Office skills, especially Excel and Word.
• Strong knowledge of traffic management and road safety methods.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Create robust design solutions meeting defined objectives and constraints.
• Prepare feasibility studies, appraisal/assessment reports and other written documents.
• Develop engineering solutions and present options.
• Collaborate with Councillors, contractors and the public.
• Compile technical drawings using AutoCAD and related packages.
• Support and implement Traffic Management and Road Safety policies.
• Liaise with audiences to resolve queries quickly and clearly.
• Keep Elected Members and public needs in mind for a positive customer experience.

Your role

• Create robust design solutions which meet defined objectives and constraints.
• Prepare and check feasibility studies, appraisal/assessment reports and other written documents.
• Develop engineering solutions and present engineering options.
• Work as part of a collaborative team with Councillors, contractors and the public.
• Compile technical drawings using AutoCAD and associated packages.
• Support and implement the Traffic Management and Road Safety policies and strategies of Salford City Council.
• Liaise with a wide range of audiences to resolve queries in a quick and efficient manner, both orally and in writing.
• Keep the needs of Elected Members and the public in mind, providing a positive customer experience.

Your profile

• Intermediate/Advanced AutoCAD experience.
• Intermediate/Advanced MS Office skills, especially MS Excel and MS Word.
• Strong technical skills relating to the design of Traffic Management and Road Safety schemes.
• Sound knowledge of and experience in traffic and road safety methods.
• Sound working knowledge of creating and critically reviewing scheme documentation.
• Applied knowledge of quality, safety and environmental processes.
• Strong organisational, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Full UK driving licence.
