Job Title: Assistant Technical Support Manager

Location: Stevenage / Hybrid

Contract Type: 2 year fixed term

Salary: £33,699 to £37,105 per annum pro rata for hours worked

Responsibilities

To assist in leading the continuous development and delivery of Stevenage Borough Council’s Planning and Regulatory Service technical support team and ensure it provides the full range of statutory and non-statutory planning and regulatory processing services in line with service objectives. Aim to optimise efficiency and service quality outcomes for all users.

As the Assistant Technical Support Manager, you will take a lead role alongside the Technical Support Manager in implementing continuous service improvement to support planning and regulatory service ambitions as a centre of excellence. You will support and lead the optimisation of workflows and service design processes to deliver customer-centric outcomes, and respond to the needs of the business to provide a high-quality service to stakeholders through data analysis and iterative process improvements.

You will also assist in leading and developing individual technical support officers to provide cost-effective and efficient administrative support, support the leadership team, manage service-specific procurement exercises, develop performance metrics, monitor and provide management reports to guide team and service performance, and ensure ongoing evaluation of performance metrics.

You will need a genuine interest in the planning and regulatory environment and in ensuring the community in Stevenage thrives. Our ideal candidate will have experience working within a planning and/or regulatory service in a busy customer-focused area, with excellent communication skills to engage with the public and ensure the service aligns with corporate standards. You will assist in delivering process improvements, enhanced communication strategies and training programs.
