Job summary

Ardent Social Ltd seeks an experienced Assistant Team Manager for Support and Protection in the Isle of Wight. You will lead a team of social workers to safeguard children, oversee cases, and ensure statutory responsibilities are met.

The role involves supervision of staff, complex-case oversight, multi-agency collaboration, and ongoing performance monitoring to drive service improvements.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising social work staff.
• Experience of safeguarding practice involving children and families.
• Knowledge of statutory responsibilities relating to Child Protection, Children in Need and Looked After Children.
• Ability to manage complex cases and support effective decision-making.
• Ability to work effectively with partner agencies and professionals.

Responsibilities

• Team Support and Leadership: Support the Team Manager in leading and supporting social workers to deliver high-quality safeguarding services.
• Caseload Oversight: Oversee a caseload and manage a small number of complex cases, ensuring appropriate oversight and effective decision-making.
• Supervision: Supervise team members as directed, including Newly Qualified Social Workers and alternatively qualified staff within the team.
• Safeguarding: Support the delivery of statutory responsibilities relating to Child Protection, Children in Need and Looked After Children.
• Statutory Compliance: Help ensure statutory duties are met and that practice remains compliant with relevant requirements.
• Multi-Agency Working: Work collaboratively with professionals including Police, Health and CAMHS to maintain positive working relationships and effective partnership working.
• Performance Monitoring: Monitor key performance indicators and contribute to compliance, best practice and service improvement.
• Management Support: Represent the Team Manager at meetings when required and provide appropriate support to the wider team.
